Our Commitment to Every Examinee

All examinations are strictly voluntary. We do not accept instructions where coercion is suspected.
Every question is reviewed and agreed with the examinee before the test. No surprise questions are ever asked.
Suitability is assessed before any appointment is confirmed, including medical and psychological considerations.
A confidential written report may be provided where appropriate, summarising the examination and its outcome.

International Appointment Eligibility

Barcelona appointments are accepted for corporate, legal, therapeutic and other professional matters. Routine relationship testing without a defined and testable issue may not be suitable for an international engagement.

Examinations require significant forensic expertise and structured forensic interviewing. Matters such as serious workplace misconduct, complex litigation, historical abuse allegations, and professional disciplinary proceedings are prioritised. Private matters may be considered on merit if they are sufficiently complex and suitable for polygraph assessment.

Specialist Support in Spain

Expatriate & International Community

Barcelona is home to a vast international and expatriate community. The Centre for Forensic Neuroscience provides English-speaking clients in Spain with access to independent, UK-standard credibility assessments without language or cultural barriers.

Navigating Complex Disputes in a Spanish Jurisdiction

Expatriates often face unique challenges when navigating legal, professional, or complex private disputes in Spain. Language differences, distinct legal frameworks, and geographical distance from home jurisdictions can complicate the resolution of credibility issues. Dr Ashcroft provides objective, structured examinations that adhere strictly to international standards, offering clarity in difficult circumstances.

We frequently support international executives, remote workers, and permanent residents dealing with cross-border legal proceedings, corporate disputes within multinational companies, or serious allegations requiring independent verification.

Collaboration with Barcelona's Therapy Community

Barcelona has a thriving clinical psychology and therapeutic sector. We regularly collaborate with therapists, counselors, and rehabilitation clinics to provide therapeutic disclosure polygraph examinations. These structured assessments assist in the treatment of addictions and behavioral issues by verifying disclosures, supporting clinical pathways, and rebuilding trust within a controlled, supportive environment.

Preparation & Process

A transparent, step-by-step psychological assessment framework. We ensure all examinees fully understand the process, promoting maximum reliability.

PHASE 1

Pre-Test Consultation

We review background case facts, confirm medical and psychological suitability, and explicitly discuss privacy, confidentiality, and consent boundaries before any testing begins.

PHASE 2

The Pre-Test Interview

The most critical and comprehensive phase. The examiner thoroughly discusses every question to be asked during the exam. No surprise questions are ever asked.

PHASE 3

Data Collection

Specialized, non-invasive sensors are attached to record biometric data (respiration, electrodermal activity, cardiovascular parameters) while the exact agreed-upon questions are asked.

PHASE 4

Analysis & Report

The examiner analyzes physiological charts using sophisticated forensic scoring algorithms. A comprehensive, confidential written report is subsequently produced.

Examinee Preparation Checklist

Get a normal night's sleep prior to the examination.
Consume normal meals; do not skip eating.
Continue all prescribed medications as usual.
Wear comfortable, everyday clothing.

Fees and Venue Guidance

How Fees Are Quoted

Polygraph examination fees are quoted individually because the cost depends on the nature of the issue, the complexity of the case, preparation time, travel requirements, venue or meeting room costs, and reporting needs.

A specialist forensic examination will differ from a legally instructed matter, a therapeutic disclosure session, or a multi-examinee corporate investigation. International appointments involve additional considerations including travel, venue procurement, and extended preparation. For solicitors, employers and organisations, fees may be quoted on a case-by-case or professional day-rate basis.

The fee will always be confirmed in advance, after a short discussion about the circumstances, before any appointment is agreed.

Examination Venues in Spain

Examinations should be conducted in a suitable, private and controlled environment. We arrange neutral professional venues in Barcelona and across Spain, including meeting rooms and clinic settings where appropriate.

In accordance with American Polygraph Association recommendations, we do not conduct examinations in domestic (home) settings, as it is rarely possible to control the environment to a satisfactory degree.

The venue, date and time are agreed between Dr Ashcroft and the instructing party during the initial consultation.

To receive a fee estimate, please contact us with a brief outline of the matter, preferred location and timescale.
