Confidential Appointment Request
Request an Appointment
Requesting an appointment does not commit you to proceeding with a polygraph examination. Every enquiry is personally reviewed by Dr Keith Ashcroft to determine whether the matter is suitable and whether the proposed issues can be examined fairly, accurately and ethically.
You can request a confidential lie detector test in Sheffield online without first telephoning. An examination is not confirmed until suitability, consent, question formulation and practical arrangements have been reviewed.
Appointment Reservation
Appointments are secured with a £125 reservation retainer after the enquiry has been reviewed and accepted. It is a payment on account against the individually quoted examination fee and is credited against the balance due. It is not the examination fee itself: the total fee is quoted after the nature, scope and professional requirements of the instruction have been assessed.
Polygraph Examinations in Sheffield and South Yorkshire
Sheffield is the largest city in South Yorkshire and a major centre for legal, commercial and public-sector activity. The Centre for Forensic Neuroscience has provided lie detector tests across the region for over two decades, working with private individuals, solicitors, employers and safeguarding professionals. Every polygraph examination is conducted to the standards of the American Polygraph Association (APA) and is led personally by Dr Keith Ashcroft one of the most experienced forensic polygraph examiners in the United Kingdom.
Appointments are held at professional meeting venues in and around Sheffield city centre, ensuring privacy and ease of access for clients travelling from Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield and surrounding towns. We specialise in relationship and domestic matters, criminal defence and legal credibility assessments, and workplace investigations.
All polygraph examinations take place in a controlled, neutral venue. In accordance with APA recommendations, we do not conduct tests in domestic or residential settings, as the environment cannot be adequately controlled to ensure reliable results.
Sheffield is a dynamic city with strengths in advanced manufacturing, engineering, and a growing digital and creative sector anchored by two major universities. The city's diverse business community and public sector organisations create demand for polygraph services in workplace investigations, insurance claims, and personal matters.

Preparation & Process
A transparent, step-by-step psychological assessment framework. We ensure all examinees fully understand the process, promoting maximum reliability.
Pre-Test Consultation
We review background case facts, confirm medical and psychological suitability, and explicitly discuss privacy, confidentiality, and consent boundaries before any testing begins.
The Pre-Test Interview
The most critical and comprehensive phase. The examiner thoroughly discusses every question to be asked during the exam. No question will ever be a surprise. This phase builds trust and ensures clarity.
Data Collection
During the in-test phase, approved questions are presented while advanced polygraph instrumentation records physiological responses. The process is conducted in a calm, professional manner.
Analysis & Reporting
Collected physiological data is analysed using validated scoring methods. Findings are communicated in accordance with the agreed scope; where that scope includes written reporting, a confidential professional report is prepared.
Preparing for Your Examination in Sheffield
Not sure whether a polygraph is appropriate?
Not ready to request an appointment? Provide a brief outline of the issue and Dr Keith Ashcroft will advise whether the matter may be suitable for a polygraph examination.
Fees and Venue Guidance
How Fees Are Quoted
Every polygraph examination is quoted individually. The fee reflects the nature and complexity of the issue, the preparation involved, travel and venue costs, and the reporting requirements of the case.
A straightforward private examination will attract a different fee to a legally instructed credibility assessment, a therapeutic disclosure session or a multi-subject workplace investigation. For solicitors and organisations, fees may be quoted on a case-by-case or professional day-rate basis.
The fee is always confirmed in advance, following a brief discussion about the circumstances of the matter, before any appointment is scheduled.
Examination Venues in South Yorkshire

In accordance with American Polygraph Association recommendations, examinations are not conducted in domestic or residential settings. A controlled environment is essential for the reliability of the physiological data.
The date and time of examination are agreed between Dr Ashcroft and the instructing party during the initial consultation. Alternative venues may be arranged where required.
