Why Choose Our Aberdeen Lie Detector Test Service?
The Centre for Forensic Neuroscience has provided lie detector tests across Scotland for over two decades. Our polygraph examinations are conducted to the standards of the American Polygraph Association (APA) and are led personally by Dr Keith Ashcroft — one of the most experienced forensic polygraph examiners in the United Kingdom, and a chartered investigative psychologist with extensive expertise in forensic psychophysiology and credibility assessment.
Whether you are a private individual seeking clarity on a personal matter, a solicitor preparing a case, or an employer addressing a workplace concern, our Aberdeen service is designed to be thorough, discreet and professionally managed at every stage. We specialise in relationship and domestic matters, criminal defence assessments, and workplace investigations.
All examinations take place in a suitable, private professional venue within the Aberdeen area. In accordance with APA recommendations, we do not conduct polygraph tests in domestic settings.
Aberdeen is Scotland's third-largest city, known as the ‘Granite City’ for its distinctive silver-grey architecture. As the energy capital of Europe, with major oil and gas, engineering, financial services and legal sectors, demand for workplace investigations, pre-employment screening and confidential credibility assessments is significant. The city’s strong legal community, anchored by Aberdeen Sheriff Court and the Aberdeen Faculty of Advocates, makes it a natural hub for forensic polygraph instructions across Aberdeenshire and Moray.

Fees and Venue Guidance
How Fees Are Quoted
Polygraph examination fees are quoted individually because the cost depends on the nature of the issue, the complexity of the case, preparation time, travel requirements, venue or meeting room costs, and reporting needs.
A straightforward private examination will differ from a legally instructed matter, a therapeutic disclosure session, or a workplace investigation. For solicitors, employers and organisations, fees may be quoted on a case-by-case or professional day-rate basis.
The fee will always be confirmed in advance, after a short discussion about the circumstances, before any appointment is agreed.
Examination Venues in Aberdeen
Examinations in Aberdeen are conducted from professionally appointed meeting rooms arranged by appointment within Aberdeen city centre. The specific venue is confirmed directly with the client before attendance.
In accordance with American Polygraph Association recommendations, we do not conduct examinations in domestic (home) settings, as it is rarely possible to control the environment to a satisfactory degree.
The date and time of examination are agreed between Dr Ashcroft and the instructing party during the initial consultation. Alternative venues may be arranged where required.
