Confidential Appointment Request

Request an Appointment

Requesting an appointment does not commit you to proceeding with a polygraph examination. Every enquiry is personally reviewed by Dr Keith Ashcroft to determine whether the matter is suitable and whether the proposed issues can be examined fairly, accurately and ethically.

You can request a confidential lie detector test in Ayr online without first telephoning. An examination is not confirmed until suitability, consent, question formulation and practical arrangements have been reviewed.

Appointment Reservation

Appointments are secured with a £125 reservation retainer after the enquiry has been reviewed and accepted. It is a payment on account against the individually quoted examination fee and is credited against the balance due. It is not the examination fee itself: the total fee is quoted after the nature, scope and professional requirements of the instruction have been assessed.

Preferred contact method

We will normally respond by email.

Please provide only the information needed for an initial suitability review. Do not include highly sensitive personal data unless necessary. Maximum 500 characters.

Submission of this form is an appointment request only. An examination will not proceed without the examinee's informed and voluntary consent.

Required fields are marked with an asterisk.

Why Choose Our Ayr Lie Detector Test Service?

The Centre for Forensic Neuroscience has provided lie detector tests in Ayr and across Scotland for over two decades. Our polygraph examinations are conducted to the standards of the American Polygraph Association (APA) and are led personally by Dr Keith Ashcroft — one of the most experienced forensic polygraph examiners in the United Kingdom.

Whether you are a private individual seeking clarity on a personal matter, a solicitor preparing a case, or an employer addressing a workplace concern, our Ayr service is designed to be thorough, discreet and professionally managed at every stage. We specialise in relationship and domestic matters, criminal defence assessments, and workplace investigations.

All examinations take place in a suitable, private venue within the Ayr area. In accordance with APA recommendations, we do not conduct polygraph tests in domestic settings.

Ayr is the principal town of South Ayrshire and serves as the commercial and administrative centre for the wider Ayrshire region. Located on the scenic Firth of Clyde coast, Ayr has strong legal and professional services connections with Glasgow — Scotland's largest city is less than an hour away by train. The town's proximity to Kilmarnock, Prestwick, Troon and Irvine means that the Centre for Forensic Neuroscience can conveniently serve clients from across Ayrshire and the south-west of Scotland.

Our Commitment to Every Examinee

All examinations are strictly voluntary. We do not accept instructions where coercion is suspected.
Every question is reviewed and agreed with the examinee before the test. No surprise questions are ever asked.
Suitability is assessed before any appointment is confirmed, including medical and psychological considerations.
Findings are communicated in accordance with the agreed scope of instruction. Where that scope includes a written report, a confidential professional report is prepared.

Preparation & Process

A transparent, step-by-step psychological assessment framework. We ensure all examinees fully understand the process, promoting maximum reliability.

PHASE 1

Pre-Test Consultation

We review background case facts, confirm medical and psychological suitability, and explicitly discuss privacy, confidentiality, and consent boundaries before any testing begins.

PHASE 2

The Pre-Test Interview

The most critical and comprehensive phase. The examiner thoroughly discusses every question to be asked during the exam. No surprise questions are ever asked.

PHASE 3

Data Collection

Specialized, non-invasive sensors are attached to record biometric data (respiration, electrodermal activity, cardiovascular parameters) while the exact agreed-upon questions are asked.

PHASE 4

Analysis & Report

The examiner analyses the physiological data using recognised forensic scoring methods. The findings are then communicated in accordance with the agreed scope of the instruction. Where a written report forms part of that scope, a confidential professional report is prepared.

Examinee Preparation Checklist

Get a normal night's sleep prior to the examination.
Consume normal meals; do not skip eating.
Continue all prescribed medications as usual.
Wear comfortable, everyday clothing.

Fees and Venue Guidance

How Fees Are Quoted

Fees are quoted individually according to the nature and scope of the instruction. Relevant factors may include case complexity, preparation and document review, question formulation, examination time, venue and travel requirements, reporting and professional follow-up.

A straightforward private examination may require a different scope of work from a legally instructed matter, therapeutic disclosure examination or workplace investigation. Differences in fees reflect the professional resources required by each instruction, not a different level of methodological rigour. Solicitor, employer and organisational instructions may also be quoted on a professional day-rate basis where appropriate.

The fee will always be confirmed in advance, after a short discussion about the circumstances, before any appointment is agreed.

Examination Venues in Ayrshire

Examinations in the Ayr area are conducted at professional Regus consulting facilities. This professional venue provides a private, controlled environment suitable for polygraph testing, with meeting rooms specifically configured for forensic examinations.

In accordance with American Polygraph Association recommendations, we do not conduct examinations in domestic (home) settings, as it is rarely possible to control the environment to a satisfactory degree.

The date and time of examination are agreed between Dr Ashcroft and the instructing party during the initial consultation. Alternative venues may be arranged where required.

To receive a fee estimate, please contact us with a brief outline of the matter, preferred location and timescale.
